Malissa Allen, LMHC
Malissa is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, active in the mental health field for the past five years, practicing within private agencies, correctional institutions, hospitals, and private practice settings. Malissa has most recently worked as a supervisor at Rikers Island North Infirmary, managing patients with serious mental illness. Malissa is experienced in person-centered therapy, internal family systems therapy, marriage and family therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy.
Malissa uses combined therapies to help clients identify the root of their issues. Once identified, clients will begin to address and resolve past and present conflicts personal, familial, career related that impede optimal functioning. Clients will actively engage in activities, which will assist in insight development, increased self-confidence, and improved self-esteem. Due to Malissa's experience with diverse clientele, she understands that no client is alike regardless of shared diagnoses, symptoms, or situational factors. Therefore, the focus is solely on helping clients achieve personalized goals by encouraging commitment, practice, and ongoing maintenance.
