Bio
Denise graduated with a master’s degree from Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College in 2021 and received her Bachelor’s in Human Relations with a minor in Criminal Justice from St. Joseph’s College in 2019. Denise has more than two and a half years of experience providing counseling to children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Her training has come from facilities such as L.I. Against Domestic Violence, Goidel Elder Law Center, and Mercy Center Ministries Independent Living Shelter. They have allowed her to gain awareness of the social issues pertaining to populations including victims or survivors of domestic abuse, grieving individuals, caregivers of loved ones with differing types of dementia, pregnant or parenting adolescents, and those experiencing PTSD and other forms of trauma or stressor-related
disorders.
Denise utilizes several therapeutic approaches such as: CBT, DBT, Person-centered, Strength-Based, Solution-Focused, Gestalt, and Trauma Informed Therapy. She also incorporates Play Therapy when working with children and adolescents. The approach utilized will always be appropriate to her clients’ specific needs. Denise has experience in the facilitation of behavioral change, encouragement in establishing and fostering healthier relationships, enhancing the client’s coping ability, and more. Denise believes that therapy is collaborative between the client and herself, as their journey in overcoming difficult challenges and situations is unique to each individual.
