Lily Eckstein, LMSW
Staff Therapist
Bio
Lily is a Licensed Master of Social Work in the state of New York. She received her MSW from New York University. Prior to Nassau Psychology, Lily had two years of counseling experience working with women residing at Tillary Women’s Shelter, and adult patients undergoing Cancer Treatment at Mount Sinai Cancer Supportive Services. Lily additionally has experience working with patients with a pulmonary hypertension diagnosis at New York Presbyterian Hospital in a medical setting, and helping them navigate managing their emotional health while undergoing treatment.
Lily believes that individuals hold a great deal of expertise about their own lives. Psychotherapy is not a process of prescription, but rather one of co-exploration. In Lily's view, a therapeutic alliance grounded in empathy, curiosity, and being client-centered can be healing and insightful in and of itself. Lily's approach is anchored in psychodynamic theory and practice; however, she recognizes the value of a flexible orientation in which other techniques – like CBT, narrative, or solutions-based - are implemented as needed.
Lily’s goal is to foster a strong therapeutic alliance by taking a warm and curious approach. Ensuring that clients are as comfortable as possible can promote an open and honest environment where Lily can serve as the best support as possible to help clients meet their individual goals.
