Jonathan Caputo, MFT-LP

Staff Therapist

Bio

Jonathan graduated with a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hofstra and is currently a PhD student at Antioch University New England pursuing his doctorate of Philosophy in Couples and Family Therapy. He has two years of counseling experience specializing in adolescents and family therapy. He has gained his experiences by providing clinical services at a college community clinic and a drug rehabilitation center for adolescents. The theory that resonates with him the most is Narrative Therapy, however he also finds value in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Jonathan looks at the therapeutic space as being a collaboration between client(s) and therapist, in which ideas and alternatives are explored. He believes that comfort can be created in this type of environment by respecting differences and focusing on what might be helpful or healthy, rather than ‘normal’ or ‘correct.’ His goals for his clients, beyond helping them define and achieve their own goals, are to create comfort, empowerment, self-value, and support.
