Bio

Louis earned his Master’s degree at SUNY Stony Brook, where he received his Masters of Social Work. Louis is a credentialed Alcohol and Substance abuse Counselor as well as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience treating patients with substance abuse and anger issues. His experience includes working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, and providing a safe therapeutic space for clients. Louis was a pioneer and administrator of Suffolk County's dual disorder program and worked as a senior psychiatric social worker in Suffolk County's criminal justice, Drug Court System. Louis utilizes motivational interviewing, with existing strengths, and builds on them using CBT and other therapeutic methods. Louis has many years of experience working with children, teens, and adults suffering from ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. Louis creates a safe, non-threatening atmosphere recognizing authenticity and attachment. His goals are to develop a therapeutic alliance with clients in order to achieve their goals.
