Alexandra Brown, LMHC, CASAC

Bio

Alexandra received her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University in 2013. She completed her clinical training at NSLIJ Glen Cove Hospital's Women and Children's Program and the Town of Babylon's Youth Institute. Alexandra also completed her post-graduate training for substance use disorders in various OASAS clinics and is a Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). She is currently an adjunct professor at Hofstra University and previously taught at Nassau Community College.

Alexandra specializes in treating co-occurring disorders in children, adolescents, and adults with the following: Anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, behavioral issues, codependency, learning disabilities, obsessive-compulsive disorder, substance use disorders, and trauma. She provides individual therapy, couples/family therapy, and facilitates groups.

Alexandra utilizes a person-centered, eclectic approach of psychotherapy, focusing on using evidenced-based treatment modalities (i.e., CBT, DBT, and MI) to empower children, adolescents, and adults to begin the healing process. Alexandra's goals are to help patients resolve feelings of incongruence and provide installation of hope.
