At Nassau Psychology, we are committed to the ongoing professional development of mental health clinicians at every stage of their careers. Through our Training Institute, we offer Continuing Education Unit (CEU) trainings twice each quarter, covering a broad range of clinical topics selected to reflect current best practices, emerging research, and the practical demands of direct client care. These trainings are designed to strengthen clinical competency across our staff, ensuring our therapists remain well-equipped to provide effective, evidence-informed treatment. The Training Institute reflects our belief that sustained clinical education is not optional, it is a professional obligation and a direct investment in client's mental health.
Our training program also serves as a formal site for the development of early-career clinicians. We supervise graduate-level interns and provisionally licensed therapists through a structured model that includes individual weekly supervision and weekly group supervision, providing consistent clinical oversight, case consultation, and professional development at each stage of licensure. We maintain established training affiliations with Columbia University, Hofstra University, Adelphi University, Stony Brook University, and additional graduate programs, placing their students in a rigorous clinical environment that bridges academic training with real-world practice. Nassau Psychology is recognized as a site where emerging clinicians receive the supervision and professional formation necessary to meet the standards of independent licensure.

Grief and Loss Training & Consultation:
Grief work can be as emotionally demanding for the therapist as it is for the client. This consultation group is designed to enhance clinicians’ comfort and confidence in working with clients navigating loss. The group will explore how the stages of grief and tasks of mourning may present in clinical practice, while providing opportunities to discuss challenging client cases, gain perspective, and explore appropriate interventions.

Trauma-Related Disorders Consultation:
This consultation group focuses on clinical interventions and approaches that can enhance clinicians’ work with survivors of trauma. Topics include trauma classifications, the neurobiology of trauma and its impact on the brain, and specific trauma-informed skills to guide clinical work. The group will also explore aspects of EMDR, including ways EMDR-informed interventions may be incorporated into practice and how to identify when referral to an EMDR-certified therapist may be appropriate.
