Geetanjali Sankar, LMHC-D
Clinical Supervisor
Bio
Anjali is a seasoned Clinical Supervisor and Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from New York University (NYU). With extensive experience in private practice and various other counseling settings, Anjali has worked with diverse client populations, ranging from children as young as 6 to adults up to 65 years old. Her experience spans across mental health issues including cognitive, behavioral, social, and developmental disorders.
Anjali utilizes an integrative approach to therapy, combining strength-based methods and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients address and reduce maladaptive behaviors. She also incorporates attachment theory into her practice, recognizing the profound impact that early relationships have on an individual’s emotional development and behavior. By understanding clients' attachment styles, Anjali works to repair and strengthen these relational dynamics, promoting healthier connections and emotional regulation.
A key principle in Anjali’s practice is meeting clients where they are—acknowledging their subjective experiences and working collaboratively to set measurable, attainable goals. She also values the integration of psychosocial and cultural considerations, ensuring that each client’s background and life experiences are respected throughout the therapeutic process.
With a strong commitment to psychoeducation, Anjali empowers both her clients and supervisees to learn and grow. She prioritizes cultural competence and continually educates herself to provide informed, effective support. Anjali firmly believes that all clients have the capacity for change and is dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges with compassion, understanding, and a focus on personal growth.
