Heather Reich-Stone, LCSW

Clinical Supervisor

Bio

Heather received her Masters of Social Work degree from New York University, Ehrenkranz School of Social Work, and an advanced certificate from Columbia University. She has 20 years of experience as a therapist providing counseling to adults. Heather began her career working with marginalized populations including the homeless and chronically mentally ill, as well as individuals struggling with substance abuse. After several years working in soup kitchens and housing programs, she shifted her focus to working with people living with HIV/AIDS. For almost a decade, Heather acted as Director of Social Services at St. Mary’s Center in Harlem. Following her time at St. Mary’s, she continued working at local community centers with groups on issues related to bereavement and adjustment to new life phases. She also provided support groups for parents of special needs children. Heather uses an eclectic approach which draws from Psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), harm reduction, and mindfulness. She also tailors her approach based on the client’s needs. Heather treats adults dealing with chronic illness, depression, anxiety, bereavement, and adjustment issues. Heather attempts to create a safe, supportive, non-judgmental environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves. She is also an LGBTQ+ ally and strives to foster an empathetic atmosphere by meeting her patients/clients where they are. Her goals are to first and foremost listen to whatever her patients hope to achieve through the therapeutic process, and secondly, to join her patients in helping them actualize a healthier version of themselves.
