Cherisse Williams, MHC-LP

Staff Therapist

Bio

Cherisse earned her Master's degree from SUNY Old Westbury and completed her clinical training in a group practice setting. She has experience working with adolescents and adults navigating a wide range of life challenges and transitions. Cherisse primarily practices from a psychodynamic perspective while incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques to meet each client's unique needs. She believes that exploring the underlying causes of emotional distress can foster greater self-awareness and create opportunities for meaningful, lasting growth. Her approach focuses on helping clients understand how their experiences, relationships, and thought patterns shape their current struggles, allowing them to move forward with greater clarity, insight, and confidence.

Cherisse strives to create a warm, welcoming, and collaborative environment by meeting clients where they are and tailoring the therapeutic experience to their individual needs. She values open communication and encourages clients to share what helps them feel comfortable, supported, and understood. Through empathy, curiosity, and attentiveness to both verbal and nonverbal communication, she works to foster a space where clients feel safe exploring difficult emotions and experiences.

Cherisse's goal is to help clients gain greater self-awareness, reduce emotional distress, and develop healthier ways of coping. By helping clients better understand the factors contributing to their distress while incorporating practical therapeutic tools, she supports them in creating meaningful, lasting change and improving their overall well-being.
