Bio
Dov Finman, PsyD is a licensed clinical psychologist and the Clinical Director of Nassau Psychology. Dr. Finman formerly held faculty positions at the Derner Institute at Adelphi University and in the Department of Psychiatry at St. John's Episcopal Hospital where he instructed psychiatry residents. Dr. Finman is a former member of the staff at Northwell/NSLIJ and Mercy Medical Center. He holds graduate degrees from the Arizona School of Professional Psychology (AZSPP) and the Illinois School of Professional Psychology (ISPP).
Dr. Finman’s clinical interests include psychoanalytic psychotherapy, clinical-health psychology and forensic psychology. His research interests include the effect of emotional and behavioral events on immune function and the psychosocial impact of disease process.
Dr. Finman’s training includes residencies at the Northern Arizona VA Healthcare System, and Southwest Behavioral Health, as well as practica in the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections, and the Chicago Public School system.
While at the VA, Dr. Finman trained in neuropsychological assessment of Traumatic Brain Injury, inpatient substance abuse, and completed one of the first rotations in the country integrating mental health into primary care where he worked with pain management and sleep medicine. During his training at Southwest Behavioral Health, Dr. Finman completed rotations in a secured inpatient psychiatric unit for emergent psychiatric patients and trained in methadone maintenance treatment for patients with opiate addictions.
