Jacob Yots, LMSW
Staff Therapist
Bio
Jacob earned his Master of Social Work (MSW) from Binghamton University and completed his clinical training in an outpatient mental health clinic. He has experience providing counseling to adults ages 5 to 65 with a wide range of mental health concerns.
Jacob utilizes an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy. He creates a comfortable environment by approaching clients with curiosity, compassion, and a nonjudgmental attitude. Rather than viewing himself as someone who controls treatment, Jacob sees therapy as a collaborative process where clients are encouraged to bring their authentic selves to each session. He strives to help clients feel understood, maintain autonomy throughout treatment, and identify their unique strengths, needs, and values.
Jacob's goal is to help clients grow in ways that align with their long-term life objectives. He works to help clients reduce distressing symptoms, increase positive mood and engagement in daily life, and build greater self-acceptance. Ultimately, he hopes to empower clients to create fulfilling relationships with themselves and the people who matter most to them.
